This elegiac, finely woven fantasy has long been one of my favourite late night, weirdly blissed-out dreamscapes, and while relatively slight on Rollin's usual bravura excesses of feminine pulchritude and plainly lacking in luridly sprayed arterial majesty it is nonetheless generously endowed with a delightful depth of sensitivity and soul-swelling, imagination-soaring poetry that engages and revivifies every movie-muted molecule, and no matter how many times I watch the film, I am always heart fully engaged by the desperate flight of our two tragic, emotionally beleaguered, asylum absconding waifs.

However, "The Escapees" has enough magic moments to be worth watching.
