As relationships sometimes do, things go pear-shaped and Nola's wallowing is interrupted with an artist residency at Martha's Vineyard funded by a dubious white man not beyond yelling the words 'Nation Time! A lukewarm season with some superfluous supporting characters, some notes on artistic integrity, authenticity and the reality of getting into bed with seemingly supportive corporates, season two preaches much but says very little about what really makes Nola tick, where she's heading and how she plans to get there set to a great score and uplifted by the unrelenting allure of Wise.

Set almost two years after the events of season one in which DeWanda Wise's Nola Darling bids farewell to romantic relationships with her three lovers, the second season finds Nola in a relationship with Ilfenesh Hadera's Opal Gilstrap and playing the cool mom to Opal's precocious daughter.

No details currently on when audiences can expect to see the new episodes, so there's plenty of time to check out the classic original movie on the streaming service if that one's slipped you by so far.

" The series, which centers on a young pansexual, polyamorous artist in Brooklyn who is juggling relationships with three different men, debuted on Netflix on Thanksgiving, receiving warm reviews for expanding on and modernizing the themes of the original movie.

There's less polyamory and more social commentary in season two of 'She's Gotta Have It' 2019.

Played by Anthony Ramos, Mars — who has been evicted by his sister — gets a good dose of tough love and travels to Puerto Rico with Nola where he learns who his real father is — a reveal which fans of the Spike Lee universe will appreciate.

Here Nola meets Olu Owoye — a British-Nigerian artist who makes sculptures out of cow dung in the nude and inexplicably praises Nola's hot takes.
